No thumbs down or negativity, but I just ran across this video (2024). I just started using a plopper style bait this year. Started with the Choppo 90 and I have absolutely worn the bass out on it right out of the box. I have caught more fish on the Choppo this year than all other baits combined, and lost very few. The fish I “missed” were mostly clearly tail slaps or rolls, not actually bites. That or clearly tiny bass. I have lost a few when I used too stiff of a rod tip. They jumped and threw it because the rod unloaded during the jump. I now fish the Choppo with a medium fast rod that has a nice bendy top third section and rarely ever lose one. The only time I really see it come loose is if I bank flip them and they are thrashing on the ground, hitting the lure on the ground. I have had the front hook foul with the line, but a short, stiff heavier pound test mono or flouro leader to my 20 pound braid eliminates that issue. I’ve never had the hooks foul together.

I enjoy the series, but why leave out different lines and sizes? I also enjoy these Jerkbaits but I don't agree with the lines and sizes that "Pro's" been pushing.

I’d like to see some soft plastics but rig the same bait Texas rig vs free rig and does the rigging actually make to bait behave differently on the fall.

I use the 110 Jr and Jr +. But I use a Braid main line with Fluorocarbon leader. It just jerks better than straight Fluoro. Sometimes I weigh them down, sometimes just change hooks, removing split ring and tying them with Braid. Didn't I see you do this? Ha Keep it up.

Will this work on 1 lbs to 15 lbs fish this is the one. A medium heavy rod fast works for most what I would need in a rod. Fast Action or moderate action each will do everything I need. Great job on the rod.

I just watched that summer time jerkbait pattern on Randy Blaukat’s channel and he claimed you needed to work them fast so they only remain a foot or su underwater. I’m thinking after watching this that’s a myth too. Be interesting to see on here.

Great info man but I think the weight transfer baits are different than the old rogues or Rapala baits. I think the baits with out a weight transfer system do require a reel down first. Can't wait til next video dave!
